Winter can feel heavy here in the Pacific Northwest gray skies, chilly mornings, and sluggish energy. That’s where this Winter Detox Smoothie comes in! Packed with citrus, greens, and warming spices, this vibrant blend will refresh your body and brighten even the dullest winter day.

Lately, my garden has been mostly quiet, resting under the weight of winter. But one thing remains strong, kale, standing tall despite the cold. It’s a reminder that even in the grayest seasons, there’s always something thriving. While this smoothie is made with spinach, kale is a great alternative if that’s what you have on hand—it shares the same resilience and is packed with nutrients that refresh, energize, and nourish when you need it most.

Ingredients for a Winter Detox Smoothie—banana, spinach, orange, coconut water, ginger, turmeric, chia seeds, and mint—next to a blender.

    Why You'll Love This Smoothie

    • Bright & Energizing – A refreshing mix of orange juice, coconut water, and mint for a natural energy boost.
    • Nutrient-Packed – Spinach (or kale), chia seeds, and turmeric deliver antioxidants, fiber, and essential vitamins.
    • Supports Digestion – Fresh ginger and turmeric are known for their anti-inflammatory and gut-friendly properties.
    • Simple & Seasonal – Easy to make with fresh, local, or organic ingredients whenever possible.

Tips for the Best Winter Detox Smoothie

    • Use Fresh, Organic Ingredients - Whenever possible, choose organic or locally grown produce to maximize flavor and nutritional benefits
    • Boost Protein & Fiber - For a more filling smoothie, add a scoop of protein powder or a tablespoon of hemp seeds.
    • Adjust to Your Taste - Prefer it tangier? Add a squeeze of lemon. Need more sweetness? Blend in a Medjool date.

    Pair It With...

This smoothie is perfect on its own, but if you need a little something extra, try it with:

    • Homemade granola & yogurt
    • Avocado toast with a sprinkle of chili flakes
    • A handful of almonds or walnuts for added crunch
